Hi I'm John and I am from western NY, we have a 2019 Open Range 27 BHS. Currently tow with GMC Sierra 1500. I have a question about hooking up another 12v battery and a disconnect switch since our unit never had a disconnect switch installed. I understand how to wire the batteries in parallel, just need to know how to wire in the disconnect switch. Thanks

If your disconnect switch has two terminals on the back, it goes inline on the positive cable from the trailer to the first battery the cable connects to. If it has three terminals each battery connects to a terminal and the trailer side connects to the third. That style allows you to select battery #1 or battery #2, or both besides the off position. The switch should include a diagram in the instructions. There are terminals that attach to the battery posts that disconnect power too if you don't want to place a separate switch.

Both batteries should be of the same age, charge state and condition. One weak battery may overheat and that's not good.

The CO/propane detector and a hardwired smoke detector should always be connected to 12-volt power for safety.
