Morryde Step Above install

Hiphophawley,
I made a YouTube video on how I installed mine and the way I keep them latched up for travel. I put this info on a similar post. I think it is called MoRyde Step Fix? It cost me about $2. It's listed under the Frames, steps etc subject matter.

What would happen if it cannot reach the ground? Can you still use it?

I’ve had this happen on one occasion when we were set up in a not so even site. I extended the legs all the way out and then placed a couple plastic leveling blocks underneath the foot. Worked great and was very stable.

we bought morryde steps we really like them. but they do have to touch the ground or you would tear them out of floor where you mount them

How does everyone feel about the rain / mud and dirt you bring in each time you break camp ? Also stopping in a parking lot for a quick sandwich?

You hit the nail on the head. The dirt, rain and mud are a deal breaker from the start. The Morryde steps maybe a decent idea on the surface but there are a lot of pitfalls involved.
Why would you store exterior steps inside the RV? Why would you block the entry with a set of steps?
Glow Steps by Toex lift are a much better idea from the start without all the pitfalls.

It's really not a problem. Just lay a towel down on the floor inside your rig, give the steps a quick wipe with a towel and/or sweep off with a wisk broom, fold the steps up and in and you're done. Contrary to what others are saying, I do not find the "solid" style steps a problem at all. Just the opposite, a huge improvement over the folding style. I have owned them now for two seasons.

Having said this, I have never owned or experienced the Torx Lift Glow Steps

Are the Morreyde steps compatible with a 2011 345 RLS or other brands? If so where is the best place to buy from? We would install ourselves.

I worry about my old dog facing down the current steps as he tries to get in to the trailer

To answer the compatible question, go the Morryde site and complete the step qualifier. Those measurements dictate which model step. If you door is like mine, it is a ~26" door and uses a 4 step model. Our dog has no issue with these. I replaced the OEM steps with the TorkLift and they were OK and an improvement over the bouncing shallow steps that came with my camper. After using the Step Above a few times on our RV's here at the office, I installed the Step Above with strut assist about 18 months ago. Very pleased. We always kept an entrance rug inside the door with the old steps and anything that comes off these when folded up is caught there. Stowed them in the rain multiple times and have not noticed water inside the camper. Also added the Lippert Solid Step storage box when the old steps were removed. I went with the Lippert because of the bulb seal around the door and the preferred latch. I got mine from Tweetys.com and for some reason they sent the hand rail which is nice. I added the Morryde motion sensing lights last month and they work well. You will have to call Morryde as mentioned above for the bracket that works with our type of door but it is a quick bolt on. There are pros and cons to each of these types of steps. With these solid steps you must insure they are stowed when raising or lowering the camper or if in a tight storage spot they may fold out. Those were not issues for me personally.

I think the only thing I like about the Morryde steps is they allow for the additional storage box.
But I guess the steps have to be retracted to acess the box?
With that in mind I'm not sure I still like the box?? LOL!
As I think about it I use the area just inside the door as last minute storage. Or as A place to just sit things that need to go in the RV.
I find my self placing odds and ends just inside the door all week long.
Having the doorway blocked by the steps would really cramp my style. However I am a weekend warrior that keeps their rig at home.
If I full timed having the door blocked would be less of a concern.

I am not a big fan of these steps. We fou f that if the strp are just a little to high our door does not close. If you are parked to close to another vehicle or building forget about accessing the trailer . Also we have found that sand , even though we sweep, there is alway sandending up in the camper, also thatcanbe a little on the heavy side... i do like the size of the top step though
