Several years ago, when my wife and I ran the Open Range rally I put on a seminar that showed you the internal operation of your landing legs. In the center of the leg is a screw drive that lowers the lower section of the leg down to the ground. If you’re having issues with your landing, legs, squealing, moaning, creaking or the motor sounds like it’s laboring. Here is one helpful hint that will help you relieve the stress on your landing legs. Attached are four photos of oiling points on your landing legs. What I did was just above the top mounting bracket of the landing leg, I drilled a 1/8 inch hole to oil the screwdriver that lowers the bottom section of your leg. What you need to do is place the red tube on the nozzle of the can. Insert the tube into the hole and you can feel the tube hitting the screwdriver rod. If you go in more than 1 inch, you’re missing a screwdriver rod. Move your red tube to a different position. Lower your landing leg 4 to 6 inches drill that hole in the square tube just above the mounting bracket and squirt three or four times with short squirts of silicone oil. I have a 2012 391 RES. I have been doing this for years I have never went through a landing leg or motor because of it binding up. Hopefully this helps you in the future with future issues of your landing legs. Jerry.
