Well the 811 has finally crapped out. Smells of ammonia on the outside of the unit and there is the dreaded yellow dust. My 345 was built in 2011 so I cannot complain. As some of you might know that the replacement unit (N8XFL) is pricey. Has anyone gone from the absorption refrig to the DC unit? I have always liked being able to use propane when shore power was not available. However the DC type appears to be the face of the future. I do not have any solar on my 345. Thanks

Jc refrigeration offers options. DIY Likely the least expensive option.

Conversion to compressor fridges is tricky. The cabinet is not designed for a compressor fridge likely.
12 volt wires are too small.

Battery bank will likely need 200% or more improvement.
