Greetings OR Owners,
We have a 308BHS model that has the rear bunkhouse slide stuck in. I'm pretty sure the gearbox is stripped. Motor still works to pull the cables tight in but it "skips" when going out with no movement of the slide. I ordered a new motor/gearbox assembly but my question to you is: how do we get the slide out to replace the gearbox?
Since the slide is fully closed, the gap between it and the clothes cabinet in the room is too small to allow someone to climb in there and push it while someone else pushes the switch.
Here are some possible ideas:
- If I can get it to fit, wrap a thin strap around the outside upper edge and another one around the outside bottom edge; connect them in the middle and use a ratchet strap or come-along to pull the slide out.
- Inside, disconnect the cables from the one side of the slide that is accessible
- Gently, with some padding, use a bar or piece of wood to apply leverage between the inside face of the slide and the clothes cabinet
- Have someone push the slide button while doing these things as well
I'm thinking that if we could get it at least a foot and a half out, then a couple people could crawl inside and also push from there too.
Any other ideas?
Take care,
Chad
